Background
At the outbreak of WWII New York and San Francisco were the only two Ports Of Embarkation. Under the stress of wartime conditions the number of ports was steadily increased. Additional ports of embarkation were established at the following locations. Boston, Hampton Road, Charleston, New Orleans, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, and Prince Rupert.
